Kevin lead a full-day workshop for 16 local students as part of the November 8, 2010 World Town Planning Day. Joining Kevin were two City Staff, teachers of the participating students, four Sir Sandford Fleming College ESM students (graduates) and John Vos, Student Planner. The students were introduced to the basics of community planning, urban design and heritage planning, and then challenged to prepare plans for a downtown commercial street (gateway into the downtown).
The 2011 event will be expanded to include 32 area students (grades 8, 9 and 12) as well as professionals volunteering their time-expertise throughout the day!
